Tom Briggs' Jig
Просмотров 12916 часов назад
This was written by Dan Emmett, and it is referring to Tom Briggs, the great banjoist of the mid 19th Century. This manuscript is a copy of his own (Emmett) hand. My arrangement is the same, except for dropping the second part an octave. It was originally a fiddle piece.
Spanish Gallopade and Variations

Originally found in the Briggs' Banjo Instructor of 1855 with only a theme and half of one variation, this version completes the piece in what is hopefully representative of how it may have been done in that particular era.

After just posting it, I listened to it and thought " dang it, why didn't I just stop after I did that last bridge. I should have skipped the walk around. Oh well. It was a spontaneous decision, cuz the form can be a bit cut and paste.
